Brent Uhl from Cone, Levi & Wrangler
Can't wait to speak with Brent Uhl about the line. Brent has been in fashion and design since the 80s and has worked for Cone Denim, Levi, Wrangler...not too bad! Denim is his first love...He may be doing some consulting work for me. It's crazy..Brent and I used to go to Belmont College together back in 83 and we recently hooked back up through Facebook...Small world..Anyway, I look forward to working with him!

8 More Pocket Designs by Ursula
Ursula Stroebel has completed 8 new pocket designs for both men's and women's jeans! I will get to see them in a few days so I will post them as soon as I can. Ursula is a very talented artist who lives in Atlanta. See more of Ursula's work here: http://www.artbyurs.com/
I have also contacted Laura Moore who is a self-taught free-lance pattern maker currently living in NYC, who has been in the industry since late 70’s. She considers herself a bit of a ‘dying breed’ because of her old school handwork and couture level construction. She works, as they say, on the table. She has been a sample maker, production manager, tech designer and worked in the tech design department.
She also does consulting for start-ups, however from what I read in a recent interview at http://www.39thandbroadway.com/ she wrote,
"I also do product development and consulting for potential startups, I have told many not to go forward because I was looking out for their best interest. If someone is consulting with me and they do not have the backing and business knowledge for a fashion line, then the company they are trying to make will not get there"
Well, Laura I respect what you are saying but I do hope I prove you wrong in this case! It is an interesting interview and you can read it here!

Men's Sketch #2
Here is a sketch I did using some sketch software. My nephew Alex who is 18 suggested putting the cross on the calf instead of the seat. I thought that was brilliant and love the look. I think I like the yoke being 2 seams instead of one. We will see.... I do love the rivets going up the sides...and of course the low pockets.
Denim Design Lab Book
Just lots and lots of web research today. Folks to contact, Cone Denim, Denim-Tech (I particualarly want to reach Blake Gaines there as he used to work at the now closed Sights Denim Factory in KY). I also came across a really cool denim craftsman named Roy Klaper in CA who designs his own jeans but I have yet to find a contact email for him. I did come across this really cool book from Denim Design Lab. Can't wait to buy this!
The Denim Design Lab LE(tm) book is a thorough historical account of both denim jeans and denim fabric, in addition to the review of the denim fabric and denim jean manufacturing process and the comprehensive glossary of denim related terms, will provide a great educational foundation for those interested in the history of denim. The detailed "how to" section provides a road map to unleash the users inner designer, helping them add from subtle to extreme details to their denim to ensure they are truly wearing a one of a kind work of art.

Patterns & Such
I contacted two pattern-makers today, one in NYC and one in Albuquerque, NM so I am anxious to hear what they have to say to this jeans line newbie. A brilliant pattern-maker is crucial because they will be the ones actually creating my vision from a sketch. VERY important phase in all of this. I'm glad I started this blog even though I know no one is reading it except me! at least for now, but it is a great way to document the Righteous Lover Brand Jeans story. My short-term goals are as follows:
- Trademark Name & Logo
- Create one male sketch & one female sketch prototype
- Find a brilliant pattern-maker
- Get pattern made
- Find seamstress
- Get a sample made

Pocket Design
I emailed Ursula Stroebel (local artist) today to see if she would do 8 more back pocket designs 4 for men's and 4 for women's so I am excited about that. This is the first back pocket design Ursula did for the women's pair. I'm also trying to get some updated artwork of the logo from Robert so that I can start introducing the brand via tshirts. The logo (as you can see top right) is really awesome! Thank you Robert Lee of Methane Studios !Robert and I used to play in a band called Cork together. He is a truly gifted artist.
